After resisting JD(U)’s demand for weeks, RJD chief Lalu Prasad today agreed to naming Nitish Kumar as chief ministerial face of the ‘secular alliance’ for Bihar elections, saying he was ready to drink “poison” to crush the “cobra” of communalism.

“I want to assure the secular forces and the people of India that in this battle of Bihar, I am ready to gulp everything. Hum har tarah ka ghoont peene ko taiyar hain. Hum har tarah ka zehar peene ko taiyar hain. (I am ready to drink all types of poison),” said the RJD boss at a news conference where Kumar, friend-turned-foe-turned-friend, was declared the chief ministerial candidate of the RJD-JD(U) alliance.

“I am determined to crush the hood of this snake, this cobra of communalism,” he asserted, referring to BJP, which is certain to go all out to wrest Bihar from JD(U).

Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is seen to have brokered the pact, said he was happy about the “unity” reached between the two Bihar satraps.

“I am very happy about the unity of Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar. Kumar will be the chief ministerial candidate for Bihar. Laluji has proposed Nitish Kumar’s name for the chief ministership. Laluji said he will campaign.

“There are no differences and we will not allow any differences to crop up,” Yadav said while declaring that they would fight together to root out “communal forces”.

Lalu too sought to downplay his differences with Kumar on the chief ministership issue, insisting there was “no dispute”.

The RJD leader recalled how he had backed JD(U) in the Rajya Sabha elections in the state.

Lalu, according to close watchers of Bihar politics, was opposed to Kumar being declared the chief ministerial face of the alliance lest it would annoy his Yadav castemen, who feel the JD(U) leader neglected them during his stint in power.

Yadavas, who constitute about 14 per cent of Bihar’s voters, form the bedrock of RJD’s support base.

The people of Bihar are facing poverty & backwardness since last 25 years due to jungle raj prevailing during 15 years RJD rule & subsequent 10 years inJD(U)'s when corrupt & worst governance was provided by both parties. The people of Bihar will never progress under RJD & JD(U) rule since both parties now connived to capture power by hook & crook since both parties are facing serious anti-inbency factor. Both parties have devastated Bihar by looting all resources. Now the people of Bihar must seriously think over this issue & oust both regional parties RJD & JD(U) run by individual person like Laloo & Nitish where there is no democracy worth name & it is purely run on whims & wishes of Nitish & Laloo. The rest leaders are treated by both leaders as slaves. What has happened with Jitan Ram Manjhi which is a glaring examples of dictatorship of Nitish kumar? Now people of Bihar should vote to national party i.e.BJP like Jharkhand where there is smooth functioning of governance & projects like 20000MW Thermal Power plants, Fertilizer plant, Steel Plants, Opening of educational insutions like IIM, AIIMS, Agricuture University, Food Processing units, Dairy industry, mive agriculture investments etc worth Rs4lacs crores is in offing. This is only possible with better coordination of state & Center govt ruled by one national party. So this is very necessary for people of Bihar to vote for BJP which is only capable party of bringing prosperity & peace in BIHAR by augmenting speed of development. This will ensure better future for Bihar. NOW PEOPLE OF BIHAR SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL IN VOTING IN FUTURE TO RJD AND JD(U) AS BOTH PARTIES CHEATED PEOPLE FOR 25 YEARS. SO BOTH PARTIES RUN BY LALOO AND NITISH IS RUN FOR INDIVIDUAL SELF INTEREST AND DYNASTY RULE. THESE REGIONAL PARTIES ARE ENEMY OF COUNTRY WHO ARE ONLY INCREASING POVERTY AND BACKWARDNESS. SO BOTH PARTIES MUST OUSTED AT ALL COST OTHERWISE BIHAR WILL NEVER BRING PEACE AND PROSPERITY.
