Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bhola Singh who had earlier criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party’s Bihar catastrophe, on Tuesday said his stand had been vindicated after the party veterans issued a scathing statement rebuking the top brass, demanding a thorough review on the debacle.
“There are leaders in the BJP now who have nothing to do with politics or with the people. Whatever I had said today has been blessed and reiterated by veterans. On the eve of Diwali, this statement lights up the soul,” Singh told ANI.
The BJP MP from Begusarai asserted that the statement by the veterans reflected their pain on watching the chaos being created within the party.
“The party can emerge strong if they act on it, but if they take it in the wrong sense then the BJP is heading towards destruction which will affect the entire nation,” he added.
Singh also insisted that both BJP president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Modi should take responsibility for the loss in Bihar.
“If Shah is responsible, then he should resign. The Prime Minister should also be held accountable. If they can take credit when the party wins, why not when they lose?” he asked.
Talking about his earlier statement, the BJP MP said that he made his comment as a person who followed politics as religion and was trying to improve politics.
Talking to the media earlier today, Singh had termed BJP’s defeat as suicide.
“It is not a defeat of the BJP, it is a suicide by the party itself. The language which the PM and other leaders used during campaigning was least required. Cow (beef), Pakistan issues were unnecessarily raised by our leaders during election campaigning,” Singh said.
