Kisan Yatra: PM Modi has forgotten the farmers, says Rahul Gandhi at Deoria

In a bid to revive Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today embarked upon a 2500 km long Kisan Yatra. As a part of which, he addressed the people gathered at Deoria for Khaat Sabha.

In a bid to revive Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today embarked upon a 2500 km long Kisan Yatra. As a part of which, he addressed the people gathered at Deoria for Khaat Sabha.  Rahul in his address asserted that his Yatra was organized so that he could urge the Centre about the problems faced by farmers and simultaneously raised how getting Congress back in UP would be beneficial for the agrarian sector of the state.

Taking to Twitter on the same, the Gandhi scion wrote, “Modi ji spoke a lot about farmers, but when his government came to power, they forgot the promises and the assurances they to those farmers.The NDA government waived of pending dues of over Rs 50,000 crore of their industrialist friends. If that can be done, then why can’t he waive off the farmers’ loans? Through this roadshow, we will propose three demands to PM Modi, namely- waive off loans, cutting down the electricity bills to half and an appropriate MSP.”

Stressing on the woes of farmers, the Congress Vice President said that when their party was in power, they waived off Rs 70,000 crore of farmers’ loans and introduced schemes like MGNREGA in order to alleviate their condition. “Through this Yatra, we will detail the woes of farmers to PM Modi, We will reach out to him and tell him how his government has forgotten the promises that they made to these people.”
