At least two terrorists were killed in the encounter with security forces at Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district early morning today, an PTI report said. As per Times Now report, two soldiers have also been injured in the gun battle.
Security forces had earlier cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in Natipora area of Sopore early in the morning after receiving information about two terrorists were hiding at a house, who started firing on the security forces, triggering a gunbattle.
This comes almost a week after Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, a top Hizbul commander and successor of Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Express report said. He was among two terrorists killed by security forces in the encounter in Saimough village. The encounter had started a day earlier when the security forces and terrorists were involved in a brief gun battle. As terrorists took shelter in the village later, the army and the CRPF cordoned off the area in the village and began attempts to flush the terrorists.

In another incident, six terrorists who were trying infiltrate were killed by security forces along the Line of Control in Rampur sector in the state. An army official told news agency PTI that noticed suspicious movement was noticed by troops along the LoC in the early hours. Six terrorists were killed after a gunbattle broke out between them and the army .
Burhan Wani killing last year in Kashmir had sparked protests and violence for several months in the Valley.
