Kaifiyat Express derails in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district; 50 reported injured

Kaifiyat Express today derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district in the wee hours of the night making it the second accident within a week’s time. Not even a week had passed when the Utkal Express derailment news shocked the nation, another rail accident took place in the state of Uttar Pradesh today. According to the latest development, Kaifiyat Express which plies between Azamgarh in UP to New Delhi has derailed in Auraiya. Latest updates by Republic TV suggests, ten boggies of the passenger train has derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya. It is being reported that several people have been injured in the accident and a medical relief train has been dispatched to the site. The initial reports suggest the train collided with a dumper which led to the mishap. So far 50 people have been rushed to the hospital following the incident.

NCR sources said that work for a dedicated freight corridor was going on at the site at the time of the accident. Officials have rushed to the spot to provide rescue and relief operations to the passengers. This is the second rail accident since last Saturday when Utkal Express had derailed in Muzaffarnagar distict of UP, killing 22 people and injuring 156.

 

Ministry of Railways has released helpline numbers for those affected by the accident.

An NDRF team is being rushed for the accident spot to carry out rescue operations. No deaths have been reported so far. Further details are awaited.
