Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, also known as KCR, will formally launch the week long celebrations on the occasion of the state’s Formation Day, with a ceremonial parade at the Parade Grounds in the city today.
According to reports, all ten districts of the state are geared up for the celebrations, with the festivity to continue till June 7. A series of cultural and literary programmes will also be held across the state, with the Telangana government reportedly sanctioning Rs 20 crore for the occasion.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion, tweeting his best wishes for Telangana’s ‘development journey’.
Telangana was officially formed on June 2 last year. KCR was elected as the first chief minister of the state, following elections in which the Telangana Rashtra Samiti party secured majority.
