Apollo Hospital Chairman PC Reddy on Friday said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has recovered from her illness. PC Reddy, in a media briefing, said that Jayalalithaa has still been kept in the ICU to avoid any chances cross infection. He added that while the other body parts of Tamil Nadu CM are still being pepped up, her mental condition is completely fine. “Jayalalithaa has recovered completely. Right now other systems of her body are being pepped up; her mental functions are fine,” Reddy added. Reddy added that Jaya can now guide and direct as her mental conditions are normal.
The AIADMK chief was admitted to the hospital in Chennai with high fever and dehydration on September 22, but news of her treatment was controlled tightly with cryptic health bulletins adding to the several rumours flying around. Initially, there were reports that Jayalalithaa had high fever and dehydration but the hospital failed to highlight on the exact nature of her illness. The hospital in its bulletin said was Jayalalithaa was responding well to treatment. A statement earlier said Jayalalithaa had “fully recovered” and aware of things around her”. In her absence, O Paneer Selvam considered as a close aide to the CM, was given of her portfolios. A host of dignitaries including Acting Governor Vidya Sagar Rao, BJP chief Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Kerala Governor P Sathasivam and chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, have visited Jayalalithaa ever since her admission in the hospital.
