Jayalalithaa dead at 68: Tamil Nadu CM, Jayalalithaa who was hospitalised on 22nd of September passed away on Monday following a cardiac arrest a day before. A massive crowd gathered outside Apollo Hospital after reports Tamil Nadu CM’s deteriorating health surfaced. As Apollo Hospital announced the demise of Tamil Nadu CM, J Jayalalithaa, the nation mourned the death of the much looked up to leader. The AIADMK leader was more than a CM for the people of Tamil Nadu. She was popularly called ‘Amma’ as, for the people of Tamil Nadu, she stood for everything that a mother stands for. She started her career as an actress and gradually set her foot in politics. She was one of the first few female leaders India saw in politics – a predominantly male arena. Although, during her lifetime, she has been accused of taking up several censorship practices to mute voices that went against her, however, her followers always outnumbered her critics. As the news about J Jayalalithaa death broke, people across the nation condoled the death of the leader. While some said that they are finding it hard to believe that their ‘Amma’ has died, some talked of her life struggle and expressed grief. Here are a few tweets from her followers:
