J&K: Ceasefire violation continues in R S Pura sector; atleast 11 civilians injured

BSF also confirms that Assistant sub-inspector of the troop has been injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops.

On Wednesday, intermittent firing continued in the R S Pura Sector of Jammu and Kashmir in which at least 11 civilians were injured and several houses were damaged. Heavy exchanges of gunfire are on for the last 20 hours. BSF also confirms that Assistant sub-inspector of the troop has been injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops.

Heavy exchange of fire, involving use of 82 mm and 120 mm mortar shells besides small arms, was still going on in the evening after it started at around 10 am on Tuesday. Following multiple violations, locals are now migrating to other areas.

A six-year-old boy and a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier were killed in heavy shelling and firing by Pakistani troops in RS Pura sector earlier on October 24. Another BSF soldier and eight civilians were also injured in the firing. Another BSF jawan Gurnam Singh, who was hit in the sniper attack in Hiranagar sector along the International Border in Kathua district on Friday night, had died late on Saturday.

Multiple ceasefire violations have been reported along the International Border and LoC after India conducted surgical strikes following the Uri attack that killed 19 Indian Army soldiers.
