Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the surgical strikes by the Indian Army across the LoC, Jammu and Kashmir Government today directed authorities to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for evacuating people from border areas in the state.
“We direct civil administration to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedure for evacuating people from border areas,” Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said.
The Deputy Chief Minister issued the direction after chairing a high-level meeting to review the contingency plan put in place for evacuation of border residents in the districts in the wake of tension along the LoC.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner to issue an advisory about Do’s and Don’ts to be followed by people of border areas in case of border firing.
While inspecting various places identified for setting up camps, he directed the officers concerned to ensure that all basic facilities are provided to the people there.
