Bhartiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah attended Aaj Tak’s Agenda16 and answered various questions regarding the demonetisation move and the surgical strikes. Speaking about demomnetisation, he said that the opposition needed to see that bigger picture; a radical change in Indian economy rather than focussing on the long queues. He was confident that the citizens of the country were supportive of the demonetisation drive and the all the surveys show that. Answering various questions, Shah said that for the Reserve Bank of India to print new notes, permissions needed to sought from the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister. He also answered the questions about black money hoarders and said that the stashed money that has not been accounted for would get nullified. When asked about how the centre plans to stop black income generation through demonetisation, Shah said that it was true that the lowly officials etc ask for money and a new method to tackle that has to be found out but until then, the bigger fish need to be caught. He referred to the corruption via tax evasion and said that it would have been unwise not to do anything about it.
Speaking of the Surgical Strikes, Amit Shah said that before the Indian army had conducted the covert operations, our soldiers were the only ones who were getting martyred but this time with the covert operation, the army was able to destroy terrorist camps. He said that for the first time, political willingness and the bravery of the army combined together to eliminate terrorist forces across the border.

Shahs also spoke about the Uttar Pradesh elections and said that the state politics was reduced to a mere game of casteism and the monarchy. On asked if he ever wanted to become the Prime Minister, Shah joked that he was only a small party worker and there were many other senior leaders before him. He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was doing a fabulous job and the whole party was standing behind him like a rock.
