Former Rajasthan Royals player Harmeet Singh was detained by cops earlier today for driving his car straight into the Andheri railway station platform. There was panic among commuters on the platform and they ran from the sight as soon as Singh’s car came speeding onto platform no. 1. Luckily no one was harmed and the Under 19 cricketer was able to control his car and stop it right next to the railway tracks. The police has taken the 24-year-old cricketer into custody for questioning and further interrogation and also to check whether or not he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

A report by Hindustan Times quoted a police official saying, “He is from Punjab. He lives in Malad. He seems new to Mumbai. As of now, it looks like he did it by mistake. We see no other reason behind it. He has been arrested.” The car has been confiscated by the police and the driver will be booked under various sections of Railway Act according to reports.

However, later Singh was cleared by the court of any involvement in the scandal. In an interview to the Indian Express in 2013, he said, “It was really shocking to learn about the involvement of our players in it.
