Speculations have started flying following the return of two Nizamuddin Dargah clerics from Pakistan. BJP Leader Subramaniam Swamy has even claimed that the clerics are involved in anti-India activities.

Swamy told ANI that he had independent information that the clerics, who went missing in Pakistan, were working against India. If Swamy is true, this is a serious allegation the clerics and the Narendra Modi government must reveal the truth about the clerics to people.

“They are lying to save themselves and get sympathy from people here. Their going to Pakistan, and the so-called government of that country saying that they didn’t even know about the clerics, then what was ISI doing with them for so many days,” Swamy said.

Both the clerics were allegedly taken into custody by Pakistan’s intelligence agencies, which accused them of having links with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

After their return to India today, the clerics — Syed Asif Nizami (80) and his nephew Nazim Nizami — met the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj earlier. In a tweet, Swaraj said, “I just spoke to Syed Nazim Ali Nizami in Karachi. He told me that they are safe and will be back in Delhi tomorrow.” Nazim Nizami, who is one of the Sufi clerics said there is a newspaper Ummat (in Pakistan) which has printed false statements (of the two clerics being RAW spies) and photos.

After meeting Sushma Swaraj, Nazim Nizami said he was ready to go back to Pakistan without any fear. “Main Pakistan phir jaaunga, phir paigaam-e-mohabbat le kar jaaunga aur danke ki chot jaaunga (I will go to Pakistan again to spread the message of love),” he said.

The two clerics of Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi had gone to Lahore on March 8 to meet Asif’s sister in Karachi.

The clerics today also said that a newspaper ‘Ummat’ in Pakistan had printed false statements about them of being “RAW spies”. “There is a newspaper Ummat (in Pakistan) which has printed false statements (of the two clerics being RAW spies) and photos,” Nizami told reporters and thanked the Indian Government, PM Modi, Swaraj, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for their efforts.

“We went there spread the message of Nizammuddin Dargah of peace and love. There are people who disagree with this message of peace and love. They said they had gone to the interior province of Sindh. We did not. We don’t have the visa for that place. We are thankful to the Indian government because of whom we are here. Negative people in Pakistan don’t want us to go there again but we will go there again to spread the message if peace,” Nazim Nizami said.

Swamy’s allegations against the clerics are really serious and, may be an act of their character assasination. The government must tell truth about the clertics to the people to save their prestige as well as that of the Nizamuddin Dargah.
