Speaking on plight of people in Balochistan, India today said that it will keep raising the issue at international level till the time Pakistan doesn’t end its atrocities in the region. “Till the time Balochistan faces repression, and human rights violations continue there, India will raise this issue,” said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup. MEA’s comments came a day after India raised the issue of Pakistan’s atrocities before United Nations for the first time. India had blamed Pakistan of Human Rights violations at 33rd regular session of Human Rights Council on Wednesday.
Ajit Kumar, India’s permanent representative to UN, in a statement said that Islamabad is characterised by authoritarianism, absence of democratic norms and widespread human rights violations across the country including Balochistan. Lashing out at Pakistan, India had said the country continues to be in illegal occupation of a large part of territory in Jammu and Kashmir.
Swarup informed media that Foreign Secretary has written to his Pakistani counterpart ways to expedite Mumbai terror attack trial. He also informed media that EAM Sushma Swaraj will address the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) going to be held September 26.
In a scathing attack on Pakistan, India said that main reason for disturbances in Kashmir is the cross-border terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. Attacking Pakistan, India said that the country’s dismal track record is well known and many countries have repeatedly called upon Pakistan to end cross-border infiltration.
