In a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and former chief minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav compared him with a character of a poem he had read during his years as a student. In a series of tweets today, he said that the chaos created in the country after prime minister’s demonetistion step reminded of a poem ‘Uncle Podger hangs the picture’.

He added that like the main character in the poem, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also first boasted that he doesn’t need anyone, but soon he involved everyone, creating mess for all and on top of all, he blames others for his mistake. Comparing the prime minister further with the character, Lalu said he was like Uncle Podger, who promised much, but delivered very little and that’s the reason why he is troubling the Reserve Bank of India, Ministry of Finance and people of the country with his demonetisation step.

The former chief minister also said that the prime minister is creating cash crunch in most households of the country and yet boast of himself of fighting against the corruption with this step.

On November 8, in an address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had banned high-value notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 in an effort to fight against the black money menace in the country. As he had given time till December 30, for the people of the country to deposit their old currency notes in banks of the same amount, long queues continue to be seen outside even after more than three weeks. To add to the problems for the countrymen across the country most of the ATMs are also not functioning properly. Even while Opposition parties support the move they are critical of the way the government has implemented it.
