Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if the Muslim community approaches the United Nations protesting against the harassment they are facing in the country, his image will take a hit across the globe, a PTI report said. He said, “Muslims are being harassed in India and if the community approached the United Nations and narrated their ordeal, then Modi will not be able to show his face anywhere. Stop it otherwise be ready to face the consequences,” he told media men at Rampur.

He further added, “Muslims follow the holy Quran and will continue to obey it till their last breath, whereas the prime minister is neither aware of Islam nor Hinduism”.

The former Uttar Pradesh minister in Samajwadi Party government, also slammed state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying there is a vast difference between what he says and does. He added that even as Adityanath speaks about taking action against illegal land possession, he is yet to take any step against a minister who carried out illegal construction in his house worth crores of rupees.

Last Saturday, hours after Narendra Modi had appealed to Muslims to find a solution to triple talaq issue, the Samajwadi Party leader had said that the prime minister should also speak on other issues concerning women of the community, as per ANI report. The agency had also quoted him as saying that the women of the community are losing husbands and sons due to violence by ‘gau rakshaks’, according to PTI.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Basva festival, said that he hoped the community would come o solve the issue and act as ‘savior’ to the Muslim women. Adding that ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ was the motto of his government the prime minister had stressed that there should not be any discrimination in the country, the report added.
