Former Union railways minister and chief minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav responded to the raids conducted by the Income-Tax Department on Tuesday by saying that he cannot be silenced. The RJD supremo took to Twitter and asked media to provide details of 22 locations where the raids were conducted. He thereafter attacked the BJP and said if the party tries to suppress him, ‘crores of Lalus will emerge from the country’. “BJP mein himmat nahi hai ki lalu ki awaaz ko daba sanke. Lalu ki awaaz dabaenge toh deshbhar mein karoron lalu khade ho jayenge. Main geedad bhabhki se darne wala nahi hun,” Lalu wrote on Twitter.

The senior leader went on to say that he will fight against ‘fascists’ till his last breath. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has asked Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to reconsider his strategy and not to run the government with people who are involved in scams and corruption. “Nitish Kumar should re-think, because how can he run govt along with people who are embroiled in scams & corruption,” Sushil Modi was quoted saying by ANI.

The Income Tax department today conducted raids and surveys in at least 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas on charges of alleged benami deals worth Rs 1,000 crore linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s family.”People and businessmen connected to the land deal involving Lalu Prasad and his family are being searched. There are allegations of benami deals worth about Rs 1,000 crore and subsequent tax evasion,” a senior official was quoted saying by the agency.

The agency reported that about 100 tax department officials conducted the raid along with police personnel. The BJP had last week accused Prasad, his MP-daughter Misa Bharti and his two sons, both Bihar government ministers, of being involved in corrupt land deals worth over Rs 1,000 crore, and asked the central government to probe such transactions in Delhi.
