‘I am a year younger than Rahul Gandhi’, says Yogi Adityanath in Lok Sabha

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also an MP from Gorakhpur addressed Lok Sabha for the last time before resuming his post as CM.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also an MP from Gorakhpur addressed Lok Sabha for the last time before resuming his post as CM. Speaking in the lower house, he said that the last Samajwadi Party government under Akhilesh Yadav did not utilise most of the funds given by the Central government. He said that the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had worked for all sections of the society without any discrimination. He further thanked the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for breathing new life into the economy of the country. He said that PM Narendra Modi was a global icon and the country was growing despite the note ban.

Speaking of Uttar Pradesh, he said that he was a year younger than Congress President Rahul Gandhi and a year older than former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and still came in between their partnership. He said that there have been no riots in western Uttar Pradesh in the last 15 years. He expressed his hopes and said that he looked forward to working with everyone. He said he was moving to serve the state of Uttar Pradesh. When asked by Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge to maintain the dignity of the chair of the Chief Minister, Adityanath said that it might have been their failures that he could come between Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav.

Earlier today, Yogi Adityanath had met Bhartiya Janata Party President Amit Shah in Delhi. Adityanath’s ascension to the top spot in UP legislature received a lot of flak and criticism due to his past speeches. Adityanath has a history of speeches, which could be termed as Anti-Muslim. His rise to the post of the Chief Minister of UP was criticised as BJP coming out in the open with their underlying motive of Hindutva. However, it is still to be seen how Adityanath performs after the overwhelming majority BJP won in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
