The Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) has come out with three ayurvedic shampoos to offer products at same prices as the company looks to take on Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd. in a fast-growing market, a report by bloombergquint.com said. As per the report, the company has introduced Ayurveda Care Triphala shampoo under the Clinic Plus brand and two Tresemme Botanique items– Nourish & Replenish and Detox & Restore.

HUL has been including Ayurvedic products to its personal care section, which helps to contribute almost 30 percent of its total revenue in the year by March 2016, it said. Sageraj Bariya, vice-president and analyst at broking firm East India Securities Ltd, was quoted as saying by the website that the impact of Baba Ramdev’s company is clearly seen. He also said that by coming out with an ayurvedic range, it will help HUL to gain the trust of the masses.

Late last year in December, the Axe deodorant maker had restarted the Lever Ayush brand in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the states which have large market for ayurvedic products in the country. Prices of the company were fixed between Rs 30 and Rs 130 to match Patanjali’s pricing, the report said further.
