Minister of Culture Mahesh Sharma faced an oops moment recently when at an event, he forgot the correct name of the guest. The minister addressed New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key as ”McCullum”.

In an event to promote New Zealand tourism, the PM of the country John Key was confused with the cricketer Brendon McCullum. McCullum was also present there.

The gaffe happened when Sharma began his speech, addressing Key as “His excellency Prime Minister McCullum”.

And if that wasn’t enough, actor Sidharth Malhotra barged in to add some more pinch to it. The actor who is the brand ambassador for NZ tourism tried correcting Sharma but ended up forgetting himself. So, he quickly covered up by saying ”“It’s payback time,” referring to the latest defeat of India in cricket by NZ.

Sidharth has been roped in to attract Indian tourists across NZ horizons. The cultural exchange is a welcome movement on both sides, as the PM of New Zealand visits India.
