In a horrific and disturbing case, a stalker identified as Vinod Chaurasia chopped off a 15-year-old girl’s hands in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district on Wednesday after she snubbed his proposal. The victim who is a class 9th student was chased by her stalker and attacked as she reached the milling market area of Fatehpur Saidri at about 3 PM. According to Times of India, Chaurasia spotted the girl after which he chased her through a crowd of some 200-300 odd people. He grabbed a sword on his way from his welding shop, where he works. Angry with her for refusing him, Chaurasia pinned the girl to the ground after which he chopped off one of her hands with his sword in broad day light in front of all the people in the busy market.
After chopping one hand of the girl, the stalker wanted to chop her other hand also, however, he was stopped by the people who gathered around them following which they saved the girl and handed over Chaurasia to the police. According to Akhilesh Rastogi, an eye witness, one of the girl’s hand fell off while the youth kept striking at her other hand even as people overpowered him and rescued the girl from certain death, as quoted by TOI. Kheri superintendent of police S Chinappa said, “Our priority is the health of the girl, who is in a serious condition. Once her condition improves, we will record her statement following which the motive of the attack can be clearly ascertained.”
The girl was rushed to the hospital where she was referred to Lucknow as her condition deteriorated. A doctor at the hospital in Kheri where the girl was taken said that she had lost a lot of blood and was very critical due to which she was sent to Lucknow for treatment.
This incident is just one of the deadly stalker cases that have taken place this year. Earlier in the month, two sisters, Gulshan, 19, and Fiza, 16 were set on fire in their sleep by their stalkers in Devraniya Jagir, Bareilly. Before that, a 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death by goons who used to follow her.
