Self-styled godman, Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan, who was arrested a few days ago, has confessed that she was behind the Panchkula violence on August 25 which led to 40 deaths, according to a report by CNN-News 18. The report said that she confessed to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana Police about her role in the Panchkula violence that followed Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s arrest. Honeypreet revealed that she prepared guide maps of the area, the report added. On Tuesday, Honeypreet’s police remand was extended till October 13.

This news comes just one day after Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet Insan, and her aide, Sukhdeep Kaur, were produced in a Panchkula court and remanded in three days’ police custody, according to a report by The Indian Express. Even though the police had sought custody extension for nine days, a three-day extension was granted for the recovery of a laptop, in which names and other details of people who were the part of a meeting inside the dera in Sirsa on August 17 are stored, and two cellphones, including one in which a video message from the dera head was made and circulated.

As per the report, the police also claimed in court that Honeypreet and Sukhdeep may have to be taken to Rampur Bushar in Himachal Pradesh, apart from Gurgaon and Sirsa. In the remand application, the police said the laptops and two cellphones of Honeypreet would be recovered from Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa.

Earlier, Police Commissioner A.S. Chawla had told ANI that Honeypreet was not cooperating with the police in its interrogation. Chawla said that the department may ask for further remand if Insan’s reluctant attitude in helping the police, continues this way. “Honeypreet is not co-operating in interrogation as desired. If this continues we’ll ask for further remand,” Chawla was quoted as saying by ANI.
