Ahead of the 2017 polls in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party honcho Mulayam Singh Yadav today addressed the media on the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. He was accompanied by the State President Shivpal Yadav.
Mulayam showed faith in his party’s performance and said that they have survived for 25 long years, it is only because of the faith of the Uttar Pradesh people in SP and they still do. He said that his party will win with a thumping majority in the upcoming polls.
On being reminded of Akhilesh’s remark that he will continue to be the Chief Minister of the state, father Mulayam said that only elected MPs and parliamentary Board will decide who the next CM will be.
‘Samajwadi Party has reached such heights because of me,’ added Mulayam.
On being questioned about the recent controversy on triple talaq and the demand for a uniform civil code, Mulayam managed a smart dodge.
Mulayam Singh also quashed rumours of an internal feud within the family. He had said two days back that nobody in his party defends him anymore while there was a time when party workers would go to any extent to defend him.
Yadav said that Hindus and Muslims can live together peacefully. They can follow their own religion. There should not be any controversy and said that faith is a personal matter and he does not want a controersy over it.
