Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) graduate allegedly committed suicide on Sunday night by jumping off the 23rd floor of a residential apartment on the Golf Course road area in Gurugram. 26-year-old Ankit Wadhwa reportedly suffered from acute depression and was dissatisfied with his job. Station Head Officer (SHO) of Sushant Lok police station Gaurav Phogat was quoted by PTI as saying that Wadhwa was struggling with depression from last 16 months following which he took such an extreme step to end his life. “Initial investigation suggested that Wadhwa was suffering from acute depression following which he took such an extreme step. It was also found that he was not satisfied with his current job profile. He was grappling with depression from last 16 months,” SHO said. “However, his colleagues told us that he was planning to pursue higher studies and was about to sit for an entrance examination in a management institute,” the police added.
As per the report, Wadhwa hailed from Rajasthan and had come to Gurgaon to pursue Master of Business Administration degree. He was staying with his uncle in DLF upscale Magnolias in the millennium city. He allegedly committed suicide late on Sunday night, the police said. The investigation is meanwhile underway and the police is investigating the case with other angles possible. The family of the deceased have been called and the body would be handed to them after a post-mortem examination. “We are waiting for the deceased family members to conduct his post-mortem examination,” the officer said.
