As the controversy following Kargil martyr’s daughter Gurmehar Kaur’s social media campaign against the violence at the Ramjas college of the Delhi University, veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah, today came in support for the DU student. Praising Gurmehar as a brave girl, Naseeruddin Shah, according to a TV report, slammed former cricketer Virender Sehwag and Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and stated them as ‘insensitive’.

Days back, following the violence at the Ramjas college after RSS backed ABVP supporters allegedly opposed the sppech of JNU student Umar Khalid at a seminar, Gurmehar Kaur started a social media campaign stating that she is not scared of the ABVP. Over her campaign Gurmehar received several threats and had also been trolled by celebrity figures like Virender Sehwag, Randeep Hooda. Trolling the DU student over a video she shared last year, saying that ‘Pakistan didn’t kill my father, war killed him’, Virendra Sehwag trolled her saying, ‘i didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did’.

In yet another hard-hitting response to the media in the wake of being trolled by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and others like Minister of State (MoS) Home Kiren Rijiju on social media and elsewhere, the Kargil martyr’s daughter, said that, “I am heartbroken, these are the people you yell for in matches and they troll you at the expense of your father’s death.” And responding to the allegations about being manipulated by others, Kaur said, “I have my own mind, nobody is polluting my mind. I am not anti-national.”

Following his controversial tweets calling a Kargil Martyr’s daughter, Gurmehar Kaur a ‘political prawn’, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, today justified his action by sharing a Facebook post mentioning, “Don’t hang me over a laugh”. Earlier after former cricketer Virendra Sehwag trolled Gurmehar over a video she posted on social media, last year, Randeep Hooda also engaged in the Twitter war saying “She (Gurmehar) is being made a pawn”.

Justifying his stance on the matter Randeep Hooda, over a post in Facebook, said, “Viru cracked a joke and I admit I laughed. Damn!! He is so witty and this is one of the other million things he’s said that has made me crack up. That was it!!”

Insensitive of Ms Kaur to not get her facts right. Agencies reported that her father died fighting insurgents. Now I am confused if insurgents then where is war with stan. Leftist media have already started putting headlines as Martyred soldier's daughter instead to avoid self goal. Also if she and other supporting her are so wise then they can suggest what India should do and where have India been found wanting in having peace since 1999 including Modi.

Very insensitive of Sehwag and eep to troll like that. Im sure eep has lost the last few hundreds of fans he ever had. And Sehwag lost all the respect from a lot of people.

Sir....pls understand the irony behind his comments....as rightly commented by the actor following his post. Sehwag wanted to play safe in the hands of so called self styled nationalist who wud praise him without understanding the irony behind those words. I know it was a double edge sword word, he used those words ironically but only intellectuals cud understand the right meaning behind it. Pls stop adding fuel to it n wud appreciate the patriotism behind u rather than being like other blind self styled nationlists.Summary is that there can't be means (war) without thoughts (creating difference between govt.), so without his thoughts his bat itself cud't hv score centuries and that's the irony. Its the thoughts that makes the means and not the other way around, if everyone can understand that what Sehwag really meant behind those ironic words he has used.Jai Hind

I do not agree entirely with what gurmehar said about the stan. We lose our people, civilian as well as military even when we are not in war due to terror attacks and most of those attacks enjoy ideological as well as logistical support from our friendly neighbor. However, the response that followed her campaign shows that we have lost all kind of civility and the already acrid trolls got a shot in the arm when Sehwag and eep Hooda joined in the bandwagon and began trolling someone who is a girl, half their age and who had lost her father to war. This was in really poor taste from both of them who know that any comment made by them in social media can only aggravate the situation.Everything is not worthy of a laugh or humor and sooner these 2 celebrated icons of our country realize that, better for them.
