Amid the growing tension in Chandigarh and Panchkula ahead of the special CBI court’s verdict in the rape case against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insaan, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief on Thursday morning confirmed his presence in the court. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh took to Twitter to reveal that even though he has back pain, he will be present in the court on Friday. He also appealed to the Dera Sacha Sauda followers to maintain peace in the city. “Although, I have back pain, I will abide by the law and will go to court. I have faith in God. Please maintain peace,” he posted.

Meanwhile, a lawyer for the guru’s sect, the Dera Sach Sauda, which claims to have millions of members was quoted saying by NDTV that Ram Rahim Singh’s health has improved now. “The health of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has improved now. He was unwell for quite some time,” Garg said.

It is being reported that about two lakh followers of 50-year-old Ram Rahim who is also known as the ‘Guru of Bling’ on account of a penchant for bejeweled costumes have arrived in Punjab and Harayana ahead of the verdict.

There is still suspense over how the Dera chief will be brought to the Court with millions of followers waiting outside to see a glimpse of him. “His arrival plan is top secret. Only a couple of officers are in the loop on this. How the Dera head will enter the district court complex and how he will be escorted out is also not clear. Recently, Haryana DGP B S Sandhu, along with senior officers, was in Sirsa and the topic was discussed there. But, the outcome is yet to be shared with us,” a senior Haryana police officer, deputed in Panchkula told The Indian Express.
