Tragedy struck a Pataudi family as twin sisters who got locked inside a car for over two hours died due to heat exposure. The incident took place around 2 PM in Jamalpur village of Pataudi. Relatives of the girls think that the twins got locked in the car accidentally while playing with some puppies – they pups stayed under the car for shelter. Vikram, the girl’s uncle said ”The girls played with the puppies while sitting in the old car. Usually, someone would always accompany them. Only the driver’s door can be unlocked from inside and we usually never let them sit by themselves,” according to an Indian Express report.
An 18-year old cousin of the girls, usually accompanied the girls when they had gone out to play with the puppies, but unfortunately, the cousin had gone out for some work and could not accompany the twins. Close to 4 PM the relatives of the girls realised that the girls were missing and started looking for them, police told the Indian Express.
Gurgaon police PRO Manish Sehgal told the Indian Express that the twins were found inside the car in a seemingly unconscious state. The girls were immediately taken to a hospital in Gurgaon where they were declared brought dead. Sehgal added that there is no indication of foul play.
The girl’s uncle said that ”We had girls in the family after a very long time. We thought that finally, Lakshmi had come to our family. We were very fond of the girls.” The father of the twins is serving in the armed forces and is currently posted in Meerut. The girls were in Pataudi for the summer vacation.
