In its efforts to silence all speculation, the Congress today paraded all its MLAs before the media at the Egleton Resort in Bengaluru. As per CNN-News 18, the Congress has maintained that the party is united. Speaking reporters, Congress leader Shaktisingh Gohil said that the BJP government was involved in horse trading and it was using CBI to target Congress leaders. He added that this has put democracy under threat. He also accused the BJP of trying to purchase 22 of its leaders before the Rajya Sabha elections.
“Ask these MLAs the way they are threatened, they chose to stand by the party even when offered Rs 15 crore,” ANI quoted Gohil as saying. He also rejected accusations that the MLAs were being hidden in Bengaluru, and added that party leaders had gone on their own accord. “We al have mobile phones, they aren’t confiscated”, he was quoted as saying by CNN News18.
“Have required numbers. There’s no need for us to stay here (Bengaluru) for even a minute if they say they won’t threaten” he added further as per ANI. Gohil also attacked the BJP government saying that the leaders of the saffron party were not worried about the floods in the state. “BJP MLAs were not worried about the floods. They were busy trying to break the Congress. Only Congress working for flood affected people”, CNN-News 18 quoted him as saying further.
