Seven teachers of government and aided schools in the district have been issued showcause notices by the district education office here for allegedly using mobile phones in the classrooms, despite a ban.

The notices were served to seven male teachers of three schools yesterday, Chief Educational Officer, P Ayyannan said.

“During a surprise check carried out recently in these schools, it was found that the teachers were using mobile phones in classrooms, in the presence of students despite a ban.

The district education department had already given instructions to all the headmasters and headmistresses of government and its aided schools not to allow teachers to use mobile phones in the class rooms,” he said.

The official made a visit to Kavindapadi Government Boys Higher Secondary school, Anthiyur Pudupalayam Government High school, and Erode Manickkampalayam Government Higher Secondary school and found a few teachers using mobile phones inside the class rooms.

A notice has also been forwarded to the respective headmasters in this connection, he added.
