Four accused in the kidnapping of the son of a former Municipal Corporation of Delhi councillor have been arrested. The kidnappers identified as Anand, Vikrant, Vinod and Vichitar had apparently been planning the kidnapping for long and continuously followed the victim for a few days before executing their plan.
The youth was kidnapped by the four near Subhash Place on September 27 morning when he was heading to College in his BMW Car. He was stopped by two men in uniform on a bike and rushed into a Scorpio with the other two accused. His car was also taken away by the kidnappers. The incident was reported by an onlooker to the Subhash Nagar Police. Later, they called and demanded Rs 50 cr ransom from the former councillor.
To avoid getting caught, they kept shuffling their locations between Haryana and Rajasthan before releasing the boy on October 3 for a payment of Rs 1 crore as they starting getting scared.
Later following the trails, the investigation team was led to the four who also are residents of Delhi and are involved in property dealing. They had been planning to become rich overnight and zeroed in on the councillor six months ago. They followed the boy’s routine for a few days before finally abducting him. The plan initially was to extract Rs 40-50 crore.
