After been suspended from Aam Aadmi Party, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan now found his spot in Assembly Committee. He will now be in six of the 21 house committees that was set up by the Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker on Friday. Khan was suspended from the party on Wednesday for attacking senior leader Kumar Vishwas, as he made allegations of anti-party activities against Vishwas. He accused Vishwas of being an “RSS-BJP agent” and plotting a coup in the party.
As per the reports by Indian Express, the committees have been constituted for the year 2017-18 in which Khan is heading the Committee on Welfare of Minorities. Apart from that, he is also part of the Committee on Privileges, Questions and Reference Committee, Committee on Petitions, Committee on Ethics, Private Members’ Bills and Resolution Committee. As per the reports, he is one of the members of the two-member special inquiry committee to investigate irregularities the award of a contract to ESP India Pvt Ltd by the transport department.

According to sources, it is believed that those MLAs who came out in support of Vishwas did not get many spots on the committees. PTI also reported that with the appointment of Khan to these committees, the party could face a fresh crisis as many MLAs were believed to be backing Vishwas.
AAP MLA and Delhi unit general secretary Saurabh Bhardwaj was quoted as saying that it is the prerogative of the Speaker and the legislative assembly to form the committees. “Khan has been suspended from the party’s membership but he continues to be an MLA,” he said.
