Developed countries have planned their Metros to navigate in the most advanced ways. For the people of Ernakulam, Kochi Metro is a historic milestone. The people of Ernakulam have suffered a lot for several years because of long traffic jams but they pinned their dreams and hopes on the Kochi Metro. I too have been waiting, looking up every time the Metro trial runs. I know Dr. E. Sreedharan personally and I always yearned to take one of those trial runs. Till now, we have seen Kochi while traveling by road but now, just like every Malayali, I too am excited that we will be able to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Kochi from all sides.”
Across Kerala, there has been considerable excitement over the inauguration of the Kochi Metro. Following the inauguration, it is expected that the Kochi Metro will be opened to the public on Speaking to Manorama News, Actor Mukesh pointed out an area of concern, “People will flock to see the Metro in big numbers. We saw how people flocked to a Mall that was newly inaugurated in Kochi – they were coming in buses and this has continued to cause major traffic congestion in the city. With the Kochi Metro, the number of people who will come to see the Metro and enjoy a ride on it will be three times more than usual. This may create a traffic issue when they travel in buses to reach the Metro station.”
