In a letter to Delhi’s Chief Secretary, EC questioned appointment of 21 AAP MLAs working as parliamentary secretaries after appointment.
The Parliamentary Secretaries will appear for hearing before EC on July 14.
Earlier, Election Commission of India asked the Delhi government to give details on facilities, like phones and support staff to 21 parliamentary secretaries after the opposition alleged AAP with ‘office of profit’ remark.
After the Chief Secretary received the letter dated June 24 on June 27, officials were asked to reply.
The ‘extra-judicial appointments’ of 21 parliamentary secretaries in the Arvind Kejriwal govt were questioned by BJP and Congress after President Pranab Mukherjee withheld assent to a bill passed by the Assembly to exempt the post from the purview of office of profit.
