Drama at Delhi airport; flight operations halted, resumed later after pilot spotted unidentified drone

The airport authority is trying to find the source of this unidentified drone, which has been reportedly spotted in the premises of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Flight operations have now resumed at the Delhi airport which were earlier halted after pilot reported about spotting a drone, news agency ANI reported. The airport authority is trying to find the source of this unidentified drone, which has been reportedly spotted in the premises of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to ANI, an AirAsia pilot coming from Goa reported about the drone at Delhi airport while landing. The flight operations at the Delhi airport were temporarily halted after a pilot reported about spotting a drone at the runway. All the three runways were shut at Delhi airport.

According to ANI sources say many flights were diverted in the wake of the incident. Moreover, two Air India flights were diverted to Lucknow and Ahmedabad, one flight each of GoAir and IndiGo that were diverted to Jaipur, returning to Delhi, as per ANI.

A team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Delhi Police and the aviation security has been rushed to the spot.

Earlier on August 2, a suspected object was recovered at the cargo hold area of the airport. The Airport Security Officials said that an emergency call was received by the control room that a suspect item has been seen in the cargo area. The area was later declared safe.
