The Congress on Tuesday strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demand of a referendum for full statehood for Delhi, questioning whether the Arvind Kejriwal-led party would also support a similar referendum for Jammu and Kashmir.

“Does the Aam Aadmi Party support the demand for a referendum plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir? How does it distinguish itself from that demand, and if it does, does it not put them in the same category as the All Party Hurriyat Conference and various other pro-Pakistani groups, who have been demanding a referendum in the Valley?” Congress leader Manish Tewari said.

Kejriwal has reportedly written to Delhi’s Urban Development Department to explore how a Greece-style referendum can be held in the national capital on the issue of full statehood.

This is Ridiculous on Indian Political Parties to say such a Stupid Question. This clearly Defines that the People of J&K have been held Forcefully and that too after the India Accepted and Promised in UN that the Referendum will be Conducted which till date has not been Fulfilled. Hasn't India Scored its own Goal by accepting this? Jago Indian Jago and let the people of J&K Decide their own fate.

referendum is a welcome act for internal matters. J & K is integral part of India and each and every citizen is stake holder. If at all referendum is suggested all the people of India should be consulted. Do not mislead the issue. Many states has been created and the purpose is administration and not division of Union.

It is a comedy by AK. Statehood can be decided only by two houses of parliament, which represent the country and not by Delhites or any other state (whichever is under question). The zeal can merely be expressed by a particular state embly in the form of a resolution, but it is left to the Parliament to decide. Delhi is not the property of Delhites and it belongs to the w country and same applies for other states too. So just giving some referendum lectures under the guise of democracy, it is crossing all ridiculousness. If referendum has to be held, then w country will have to vote in such a situation and this will be a farce, because specifically for this reason our consution has established LS and RS to represent centre and state!
