DMK chief M Karunanidhi has been admitted Kauvery hospital in Chennai early in the morninga at around . He was keeping unwell for sometime. As per a statement by the hospital, the former Tamil Nadu chief minister has been admitted for optimisation of nutrition and hydration. The 93-year old leader his currently stable and will be released in few days, the statement added.
He was admitted months after the current chief minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa was admitted in hospital due to an ailment on September 22 in Apollo hospital. As per recent reports, she was shifted from the intensive critical care unit (ICCU) to the general ward of the hospital. On November 13, the hospital had said that Jayalalithaa had recovered and could leave the hospital whenever she wish. The news of her treatment was controlled tightly with cryptic health bulletins adding to the several rumours flying around.
There were reports initially that the state chief minister had high fever and dehydration but the hospital failed to highlight on the exact nature of her illness. In its bulletin itsaid Jayalalithaa was responding well to treatment. A statement earlier said Jayalalithaa had “fully recovered” and aware of things around her”. In her absence Finance Minister was given of her portfolios.
Her supporters had also gathered outside the hospital praying for her quick recovery. In a step that has marked the new level of worship by supporters, one of her followers spent a huge amount of money in distributing tender coconuts for the crowd gathering outside hospital premises eager to know latest updates in her health.
