The Laxmi Puja is being celebrated with much fervour across the country today. This occasion is a combination of five deities which include Lord Ganesha, Mahalakshmi, Mahakali, Mahasaraswati and Lord Kuber. Normally Laxmi Puja falls on the day of Amavasya. As per mythology goddessh Laxmi is the god of beauty and wealth. She is the wife of Lord Vishnu. Bhakts also offer her gifts for blessings, as it is being believed that the happier Goddess will be, the more she will grant her blessings on them.

On this day, it is important to keep houses clean. Diyas and rangolis can be seen all around. This day is the main event of Diwali and it’s extremely important to keep the house clean and tidy. The festival of light falls on the day of Amavasya which is normally termed as inauspicious day, but here it is considered as the most auspicious one. People are seen lighting diyas and draw beautiful rangolis.

It his believed that the goddess visits and likes cleanliness. Usually women performs Laxmi Puja. On most of photos and idols, Goddess Laxmi is either sitting or standing while holding the flower in her hand. On this day, devotees perform Shradh on their ancestors also. They also observe fast to seek the blessing of the goddess. As per several myths, puja must be performed during Pradosh Kaal which begins after sunset.
