Following Dipa Karmakar’s decision to return the BMW presented by Sachin Tendulkar, citing maintenance issues, the cricket great today offered funds to the olympian, insisting her to keep the present. But Dipa, in a tweet, thanked the legendary batsman for his offers and asserted that she will be returning the present she has earned after her performance at the Olympics.

Hailing from the small town of Agartala in Tripura, Dipa cited that it’s difficult for her and her family to maintain such a car in the narrow and broken roads of the town.

Also, the Challengers’ Cup in Germany satys as the main focus of the gymnast. Speaking on her behalf Dipa’s coach Bisweshwar Nandi claimed that the decision to return the BMW was not solely taken by her, but it was a collective decision. Dipa had been asked not to divert her focus on maintaining expensive presents.

The key reason for the return of the BMW is Dipa’s particiapation in the Challengers’Cup. Her coach, Nandi said that he had spoken to the Hyderabad Badminton Association, that had agreed to give an equivalent amount to Dipa on the return of the BMW.

For her participation in the Challenger’s Cup, Dipa and Nandi will have to form a three member team as the Gymnastics Federation of India said the gymnast would only get to travel to Germany if India puts up a six-member camp.
