In a video of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Radha Mohan Aggarwal scolding a woman IPS officer Charu Nigam in Gorakhpur, shows the official crying after receiving a verbal volley for allegedly ‘misbehaving’ with some protestors. Nigam however said on Monday that she didn’t cry because of the words the MLA had mouthed. She said she “Got emotional when a senior officer took stand for me. Does the police have no right to ask one to move aside?”
Mohan had rebuked Nigam allegedly for hitting a woman and dragging an 80-year old man who were protesting at Kareemnagar area against a liquor shop. Nigam said that she was removing the protestors from the road as they were blocking the traffic. She has been active in the anti-Romeo squad and is also called ‘Lady Singham’, PTI reported. She was seen wiping off tears after the altercation in a video footage on Sunday. “I did not weep, as it is not ingrained in my personality. However, I got emotional when my senior officer supported me,” she told PTI.
Nigam is a 2013-batch IPS Officer, she said that Aggarwal misbehaved with her. “He refused to acknowledge in full public view that he is speaking to a lady police officer,” she said, PTI reported. Mohan, MLA in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s constituency, refused the allegations and said that the people were protesting peacefully and Nigam exercised high-handedness. “Is my body language showing that I am misbehaving with her? I was not speaking to the CO (Charu Nigam), but to SP (City). See my body language properly,” he said.
Aggarwal is heard saying in the video, “Aapse baat toh mai kar nahi raha hu.. aap koi nahi hai mujhe batane wali. Chup rahiye. Bardasht ke bahar mat ho jao tum (I am not talking to you. You are nobody to tell me. Shut up. Do not cross your limits).”
