In his programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime minister Narendra Modi said there was overwhelming suggestion by the people of the country that there should be more talks on the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. He also urged the youngersters of the country to embrace mobile banking technology. Earlier JD(U) has decided not be part of ‘Akrosh Diwas’ to be observed tomm in a meet held by senior leaders yesterday. Speaking to ANI, party general secretary  Pawan Varma that his party had already made it clear that it is supporting the move.Meanwhile, former Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India, Nandan Nilekani, has said the demonetisation “shock given to the currency” will boost digital economy. “The fact is that we have had a shock given to the currency system and, in my view, this will boost digital economy,” said Nilekani, who was in a conversation with Nalin Mehta at Times Lit Fest in the national capital on Saturday. The former Infosys chief executive also went on to add that since there is a “loss in the confidence that people had in physical currency”, they will surely look for and adopt other alternatives.

2:40pm: CBI is examining communication from ED to register an FIR against two of its ex-chiefs A P Singh and Ranjit Sinha in Moin Qureshi case. We are looking at the complaints, CBI said in a statement.

2:35pm: Jaitley said that out of nearly 2 lakh ATMs in India as of now, 22,500 ATMs will be re-calibrated today. Meanwhile, CBI has received complaints of corruption against two of its ex-directors from ED and IT. No FIR has been registered yet.

2:30pm: Jaitley said that the exchange limit of Rs 4500 over counter reduced to stop misuse of funds; withdrawal of Rs 2.5 lakhs for marriages, big relief to common man. Plea has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding fake currency notes of Rs 500 and 2000. The apex court has asked the lawyer to mention the matter before the Chief Justice on Tuesday.

2:25 PM: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that Rs 1000 notes will not be reintroduced as of now. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 3 PM after uproar over the issue of demonetisation. Opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha demanded that the PM be present for discussion on demonetisation.

2:16 PM: Mamta Benerjee has given three day ultimatum to roll back the demonetisation move by Prime Minister Modi. Meanwhile, the lines at banks and ATMs continue to grow and there is wide spread inconvenience.

2:11 PM: Arvind Kejriwal takes on PM Modi in Azadpur Mandi. In a rally he attacked the Prime Minister saying that Vijay Mallya was allowed to leave the country. He also attacked Modi by saying “the biggest scam post independence”.
