Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed the public in Uttar Pradesh’s Dadri Anaj Mandi and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi waged a war against the poor people of India on November 8 when he announced the demonetisation drive. He said that PM Modi had made every honest person stand in long queues outside banks and ATMs. Gandhi said what former Finance Minister P Chidambaram had said earlier in the day i.e, the Prime Minister’s narrative had changed over time. It has come a long way from being black boney to terrorism to a cashless economy, he added.
He taunted Prime Minister Modi and said that he had already made the society cashless as nobody had any cash because of the demonetiation drive. People were suffering, he added. He addressed the people and said that when the common poor people were allowed to withdraw only Rs 2000, whereas the thieves were robbing Rs 50-100 crore from the back gate of the banks. He said that Modi had made them (common people) cashless. He said that when the cashless economy happens, the farmers won’t know but 55 of it would go directly into the pockets of the industrialists.
He spoke about huge bank loans taken and forgiven by the government and said that a few businessmen have taken Rs 8 lakh from banks which they were not paying back. He said that the Prime Minister was not bringing back this money from them as these businessmen were the ones who market him. And hence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the common people stand in line in front of banks, he added.
