Following Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s live session on Facebook, criticising the Central government’s demonetisation scheme, the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that an increase of 640 percent in the number of followers the CM and AAP have on social media. According to IE, the AAP’s social media team released the official statistics on Sunday and claimed that a large part of the public reciprocated Kejriwal’s sentiments regarding the opposition of demonetisation.

The statement says that at least 50 lakh people had viewed the Delhi CM’s assembly speech on demonetisation on various social media websites. The statement also reads that AAP’s Facebook page saw a massive growth of about 640 percent in the week following the announcement of the demonetisation policy. Almost half a crore have watched the November 15 speech, the statement added.

Kejriwal’s assembly speech has garnered over 48,02,000 views and 1,72,128 shares on AAP’s Facebook pages. The Aam Aadmi Party’s national Facebook page also managed to record over 27,000,00 views on the video of the speech, while its Delhi [age has over 10,50,000 views on the same. An AAP official told IE that the available statistics only indicate the public’s response against the Prime Minister’s anti-people decision od demonetisation. Arvind Kejriwal has been quite vocally opposing the demonetisation move by Prime Minister Modi and the central government citing the inconvenience faced by the common man. Earlier, Kejriwal along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee  had addressed a rally in Azadpur Mandi regarding the same issue.
