Delhi has been put on high alert after intelligence agencies have warned of possible ‘high profile strike’ allegedly by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in the national capital. The security forces have been asked to maintain extra vigilance at all crowded locations.

According to sources, the agencies have warned that two JeM terrorists have sneaked into the national capital with the intention to carry out high profile strikes and a hostage crisis could also be possible.

The Delhi Police has also been provided with additional companies of the Central Para-Military Forces (CMPF) to guard the vital installations.

However, the agencies had earlier warned the police about a LeT module strike in the capital.

This alert has come in the wake of the terrorist attack on the Air Force Base in Pathankot where seven defence personnel have been martyred so far.

Meanwhile, fresh firing is underway as around two terrorists are still believed to be holed up inside the Base and attempts are being made to flush them out.

Around six terrorists had infiltrated the Base yesterday and four were neutralised.

Combing operations resumed today morning where Lt. Colonel Niranjan E. Kumar succumbed to his injuries after he accidentally set of an explosive device that was strapped to the body of a slain terrorist.

“Pained to know about the demise of Lt. Col. Niranjan of NSG during mopping out operations at Pathankot. The nation salutes his sacrifice,” Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted.

Another National Security Guard (NSG) jawan was injured in the combing operation and was rushed for immediate treatment.
