Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government has filed a plea in Supreme Court against High Court’s judgment on giving primacy to Lieutenant-Governor in administration. The HC order was a setback for the Delhi government as it has been demanding full statehood for Delhi ever since it swept to power. In the tussle between the Arvind Kejriwal-led government and L-G Najeeb Jung, court had ruled strictly in favour of the LG. In a landmark decision, court termed the government probe for financial irregularities into the Delhi District Cricket Association and CNG fitness scam as ‘illegal’.

Just after the decision, AAP government had said that it will challenge the High Court order in Supreme Court. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia termed the battle as “between the selected and the elected.” He said that while his government respects the High Court verdict, it disagrees with it at the same time and will be knocking apex court’s door. Lt Governor Najeeb Jung remarked the decision as ‘nobody’s victory.’ “This is nobody’s victory. Arvind Kejriwal and Najeeb Jung don’t exist. It is not that we will give sweets to each other today. These are things that the High Court had clarified today,” he said after the verdict.
