Maharashtra’s Medical Education minister Girish Mahajan is in trouble for allegedly attending underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s family wedding in Maharashtra’s Nashik along with some police officials and other MLAs on May 19. The wedding was of a woman whose family is said to be distant relatives of the fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. The news about the minister allegedly attending the wedding surfaced when regional news channel IBN Lokmat started showing a clip of the wedding on Wednesday. The marriage ceremony was organised at a mall in the city on Monday.

Nashik City Police Commissioner, Ravindra Singhal earlier today ordered an internal inquiry against the concerned police officers who attended the wedding. As per PTI, the invitations for the marriage was reportedly given to police officials by some Muslim clerics and that the groom is the son of a former local corporator. However, Police Commissioner Singhal did not confirm the news that the invitations were given by Muslim clerics and said, “The invitation for the marriage was sent to some police officials of Bhadrakali police station and also to some corporators, political personalities, MLAs etc,” PTI quoted Singhal.
He further said, “It will take two days to complete the internal inquiry against the officials as some of them are on leave.” Singhal did not specify the number of police officials who attended the wedding.
