In the ongoing crackdown against illegal accumulation of wealth, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a high-ranking Income-Tax commissioner along with five other people in connection with an alleged bribe of over Rs 19 lakh according to the news agency PTI. The agency reported on Wednesday morning that commissioner B B Rajendra Prasad and one other person were arrested from Vishakhapatnam while four others were taken into custody from Mumbai. Agency quoted CBI sources as saying case pertains to an over Rs 19 lakh allegedly taken as bribe by the Commissioner to favour a corporate house. The sources also revealed that over Rs 1.5 crores were seized by the agency during the searches carried related to the case.

In a recent raud conducted by the IT department over Rs 1 cr were recovered from the house of a national-level shooter in Meerut. Yesterday, the DRI has roped in Income Tax Department to look into the recovery. The IT department will look into the source of the money recovered from the house, a DRI official told the news agency ANI. A syndicate involved in gun-running and wildlife trade was busted on Sunday by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Three accused including Slovenian national Boris Sobotic Mikolic have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the racket.

Following the detention of the accused, the DRI had carried out searches at multiple places including the house of the national-level shooter, Prashant Bishnoi, son of a retired army colonel, and seized over hundred illegally imported firearms, 117 kg of nilgai meat, horns and skins of leopards and blackbucks. The DRI officials said nothing specific has come out against the retired army officer. Unaccounted cash of about Rs one crore and two lakh cartridges were also seized during the searches.

    When will the government get the courage to raid the lawyers,judges,high rank police officers,high ranked CBI, intelligence officers, politicians and the so-called big business houses which corrupt them all
