After Rahul Gandhi’s official Twitter handle was hacked on Wednesday evening, INC’s verified account was hacked today. The hackers filled the accounts with obscene and abusive tweets. Meanwhile, it took some time but the accounts were restored and the distasteful tweets were removed. The group of hackers who call themselves ‘Legion’ directed several abusive tweets at Rahul Gandhi and also the Congress party from their verified account themselves. Many of the tweets were full of profane words, even as some of them threatened Gandhi and the Congress party.

The party condemned the hacking of Gandhi’s account while Congress’ media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the hacking was a ‘sinister concept to abuse and intimidate’. Meanwhile, Rahul Pandhi a part of the party’ digital team wrote on Twitter, “When you don’t have ans to Rahul Gandhi’s Qns, you hack his account to put the trash that your mind is. It’s rather a win for @OfficeOfRG!” He added that the INC’s Twitter handle was restored and that the email server was compromised by hackers with political agenda of top levels. Pandhi wrote, “A malicious cyber attack at the highest possible levels. The passwords etc were replaced, but our e-mail servers have been compromised.” He added, “Oh baby! We at @INCIndia are getting into the nerves our political opponents..full cyber attack by the chimps. You still can’t deter us!”

When someone on Twitter suggested that the crime could have been done by a ‘disgruntled sacked employee’, Gaurav responded, “Hacking is a crime – whoever does it. You & your sources must assist the investigators to nab the hackers if your info is correct.” Earlier, after the hack of Rahul Gandhi’s account, Pandhi asked, “If eminent digital props can be hacked & not restored, what’s the assurance about financial transactions? Cyber attack is real. #RahulGandhi”.

Pandhi blamed ‘helpless’ Twitter for inaction against such cyber abuse, saying that if a senior politician like Rahul Gandhi’s account can be hacked why can’t the social media giant take responsibility to get it back as soon as possible. Pandhi said, “Tomorrow anyone’s account gets hacked and folks from @twitter are inaccessible and then your team is unable to get back account.” He further said, “Is this the shit that Twitter is where you are not able to control the services when it is being misused by bigots.”
