Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh said Prashant Kishor has no business interfering in the running of the party, the Congress high command Monday made it clear that Kishor has “no role” in organisational matters and ticket distribution.

The AICC drew the line days after Kishor reportedly met two Punjab leaders who were expelled from the party, leaving Amarinder Singh livid.

“Prashant Kishor is a good strategist…he will give his suggestions to Captain Amarinder Singh on what areas to focus on, what to highlight and what issues should be included in the election manifesto…. He has no role in organisational matters and he will have no role in distribution of tickets,” said Shakeel Ahmad, AICC general secretary in charge of Punjab. “Both Captain and Kishor are on the same page.”

He also said: “Captain Amarinder Singh runs the party in Punjab. He is the PCC president. I am the general secretary in charge, Harish Chaudhary is there as secretary, Ambika Soni is the campaign committee chairperson, Charanjit Singh Channi is our CLP leader and Lal Singh our senior vice president… day-to-day party affairs are run by this team.”

While Ahmad claimed ignorance about Kishor’s reported meeting with expelled Congress leaders Jagmeet Brar and Bir Devinder, party sources said he could have met them in good faith.

Asked about the possibility of return of the two expelled leaders, Ahmad said: “At this stage, I don’t think there is any possibility.”

Meanwhile, Kishor is learnt to have met Amarinder Singh Sunday to sort out the issues. Asked about the meeting, Ahmad said: “I don’t know whether this meeting took place or not. I don’t have any information.”
