Cockroach row: Café Coffee Day employee says customer called her ‘slut, bitch’

National Law University student Arpan Verma was arrested after a complaint against him was registered by Café Coffee Day employee Priyanka Priyadarshini at the Manak Chowk police station three days before the uploading of the video.

National Law University student Arpan Verma was arrested after a complaint against him was registered by Café Coffee Day employee Priyanka Priyadarshini at the Manak Chowk police station three days before the uploading of the video. In her complaint, the female employee of CCD said, “Around 1 pm on March 12, Verma and another person came to the café and ordered coffee and some beverages. When I told them that only coffee was available as the branch near Hawa Mahal was temporary, they got angry and Verma called me a slut and bitch.” She further wrote that, “They returned after 20 minutes and started taking the video of cockroaches in the café. They also focused their camera on me despite my objection. I tried to grab the camera and in the process the mobile phone fell down from Verma’s hand,” according to a Hindustan Times report. While her complaint included all other aspects, she left out the part of her slapping the student, which is clearly visible in the video.

The video of Café Coffee Day employee Priyanka Priyadarshini slapping law student Arpan Verma went viral after it was posted on Twitter on March 25. The whole issue was raised after the video went viral and it can be seen in the video that employee slapped the NLU student after he spotted cockroaches in the refrigerator of the popular café in Jaipur on March 12. Chena Ram, station house officer of Manak Chowk police station said, “We have registered a case against Verma. He came to the police station on Wednesday.”

Earlier on March 28, Arpan Verma who has been accused of abusing the female employee took to twitter to write as to why he did not slap the employee after she slapped him. He wrote- “For all those who are asking why I didn’t slap the lady staff after she slapped me.”

Meanwhile, Cafe Coffee Day through their twitter handle said, “We will take the required action without compromising in our endeavour to deliver quality products and services to our patrons.” They have further said, “We have escalated the recent issue at our Jaipur outlet, and are in talks with the consumer & the internal team to ascertain facts.”
