Indian Railways services and flights at Chennai Airport resumed operations today after days of disruption due to Chennai floods caused torrential rains that left thousands of passengers stranded.
While Indian Railways services of trains partially resumed on Saturday, a Southern Railway spokesperson said all trains particularly to Chennai and its surrounding areas were operating in full swing from today.
“Yes, train operations are on full swing from today especially in Chennai and surrounding areas..”, he said.
Chennai Airport Director Deepak Shastri said the airport is fully functional from today.
Commercial operations, which began partially yesterday, were fully functional.
“It is fully functional from today”, Shastri told PTI.
He said the services were fully restored from today and Chennai airport was waiting to receive the schedule from private airlines. “It (airport) is functioning one hundred per cent. In fact, I am waiting for the schedule from private airlines”, he said.
Several inter-city and intra-state trains including local trains had been cancelled following heavy rains leaving thousands of passengers stranded.
Chennai Airport was shut since last week as runways were flooded.
Several stranded passengers at Chennai Central railway station and Chennai Egmore were taken to their onward destinations by special trains arranged by Southern Railway.
Air India, which began day time operations yesterday, transported passengers to various places from Chennai to Port Blair, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
KOCHUVELI –CHENNAI SPECIAL TRAIN
Southern Railway will run Train NO. 02228 Kochuveli – Chennai Central AC Special today(7.12.2015) to clear the extra rush of Passengers. The above train will leave Kochuveli at 20.20 hours today with stoppages at Kazhakoottam, Kollam, Chengannur, Ernakulam Town, Trissur & Palakkad.
Reservation for the above train already commenced.
TRAIN NO 12243 SHATABDI EXP – RESCHEDULED
1.Train no 12243 Chennai Central- Coimbatore Shatabdi express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 7.15 hours on 7.12.2015 (today) is rescheduled to leave at 10.00hours.
SPECIAL TRAIN BETWEEN TAMBARAM – TIRUCHHIRAPPALLI
1)To clear extra rush of traffic a special train No 06152 between Tambaram – Tiruchchirappalli will leave Tambaram at 12.30 hrs on 07-12.2015.
Stoppages: Chengalpattu,Villupuram and Vriddachalam,
SPECIAL TRAINS BETWEEN CHENNAI EGMORE – HOWRAH
1)Special Train No 06150 from Chennai Egmore – Howrah Special will leave Chennai Egmore at 14.40 hrs on 07.12. 2015 and arrive Howrah 20.00 hrs on 08.12.2015.
Stoppages : Sullurpeta,Gudur, Nellore, ongole, Tenali, Vijayawada, Rajamundry, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Kharagpur.
2)Special Train No 06151 from Howrah – Chennai Egmore Special will leave Howrah at 00.15 hrs on 09.12.2015 and arrive Chennai Egmore on 03.30 hrs on 10.12.2015.
Stoppages : Kharagpur,Balasore, Bhadrak,Cuttack,Bhubaneswar,Kurdha Road, Brampur, Vizianagaram,Vishakaptnam,Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Tenali, ongole, Nellore Gudur & Sullurpeta.

Bulletin No.16 Five Train Services Cancelled Earlier are Now Restored To Run on 6th December, 2015
The regular train services running from SCR are resumed to Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore and passing through Chennai area with effect from 00.01 hrs of 06/12/15.
Accordingly, the following trains which were cancelled/partially cancelled in earlier press releases are restored and will run as per schedule on 6th December, 2015.
1.Train No. 17644 Kakinada Port – Chennai Egmore Circar Express is restored
2.Train No. 17652 Kacheguda – Chennai Egmore Express is restored.
3.Train No. 12760 Hyderabad – Chennai Central Charminar Express is restored.
4.Train No. 12604 Hyderabad – Chennai Central Superfast Express is restored.
5.Train No. 12711 Vijayawada – Chennai Central Pinakini Express is restored.
However due to heavy rains and water over flowing above danger level at Railway Bridges in Chennai – Gudur Section the following trains are cancelled.
